Osteothai for the Breathing Process
Osteothai is the integration of osteopathic principles into Thai massage – a bridge between East and West. Dynamic, precise, deeply effective.
If our patients breathe properly, they live well. Blood and energy move. Health is present.
Osteothai Philosophy
A bridge between East and West
Osteothai combines the varied and powerful stretches of traditional Thai massage – using long leverage techniques across muscle groups – with osteopathy’s release of tissue tension and work on restriction of mobility. Practised on the floor, the patient wears comfortable clothing. The therapist uses hands, feet, knees and elbows for a rich and dynamic approach.
Osteothai was created by David Lutt and Arno L’hermitte, two French osteopaths in love with Thai massage. Each of them developed the concept according to their own views and inspirations – allowing Osteothai to be a living and constant evolution.
The Breathing Process
The breathing process is a mechanism bringing together the respiratory, neurological, cardiovascular, visceral, musculoskeletal and psychic systems. Using dynamic and static techniques to approach the ribcage, the different diaphragms and the shoulder joint, it is possible to restore vitality and mobility in the chest – increasing fluids circulation and releasing tensions and emotions.
In this course we learn about the expansion & retraction motion of the breathing system for a better homeostasis – restoring the conditions for health to express itself.
5-DAY
COURSE
This dense and colorful course brings us into the Universe of Osteothai. Precise and powerful techniques taught to adapt your massage to the needs of your patients.
How to approach the ribcage, the thoracic spine and the sternum with dynamic techniques coming from Thai massage and osteopathy: general treatment, oscillatory techniques, recoil and impulse, advanced stretching.
The interdependence between structure and function brings our attention to the 3 inner cylinders: the lungs and the heart. Techniques to increase lung function and circulation.
The diaphragms separate the body into different cavities. A special attention will be brought to them to balance the pressure system and allow a good 3-D expansion-retraction motion within the ribcage.
How to free the shoulder complex (glenohumeral joint, scapula, clavicle). This joint is fully integrated into the ribcage and hence linked to the breathing process.
Developing sensitivity and Being principles, we deepen our touch and knowledge into the fascia and craniosacral system – a world where we can feel but not see movement.
